I had a dream that I was getting ready by putting on my make up at a mirror and a place like Mac or Sephora. I had access to any makeup that I liked. There were all kinds of brands on display and I could use whatever I wanted. I kept gravitating toward the Armani, beauty display and used the eyeshadows and lipsticks. I was very careful not to disturb the display or to drop or break any of the materials. There were several other people getting ready with me as well, though I don’t know what we were getting ready for. There were two male librarians who talked about being in a throuple and made jokes. The woman next to me, kept asking my opinion about how her makeup looked, and how her hair looked and how her face looked, and it was the supermodel Linda Evangelista. Of course she looked perfect and beautiful and lovely and she was so kind and she cared what I thought and we talked and she was just lovely. In a way I felt like I didn’t belong there, that I was lucky that I was there, but in another way, I felt like I belonged because the people who were there accepted me with open arms. I suppose this is what I wish my relationship with make up for like instead of what it currently is, which is that people on the Internet don’t make any sense to me and have made me feel bad about myself in the way that I do things, even though I love make up more than anything, more than so many things in the whole world.
This dream navigates a fascinating landscape of self-expression, self-worth, and the tension between aspiration and self-acceptance. Let’s delve into the various elements present in your dream, exploring their potential meanings and the emotions they evoke.
Setting in a Makeup Store: The location of your dream—a luxurious makeup store reminiscent of MAC or Sephora—symbolizes a space of creativity, beauty, and personal expression. This setting suggests that you are in a phase of your life where you are exploring your identity or seeking to redefine how you present yourself to the world. The abundance of products indicates unlimited potential and the freedom to choose your persona, reflecting a desire for self-exploration and enhancement.
Choosing Armani Products: Gravitation towards high-end brands like Armani signifies a yearning for quality, sophistication, and perhaps a touch of glamour in your life. This choice may represent your aspirations and how you perceive beauty standards. In a broader sense, it may also denote your acknowledgment of your self-worth; you are drawn to something that you regard as valuable and exemplary.
Be careful not to disturb the display: Your attentiveness to not disturb or drop any makeup products illustrates a deep-seated desire for control and perfectionism. You may have internalized pressure to present yourself flawlessly, reflecting your own expectations or the influences of society. There is also a suggestion of vulnerability here; you might fear judgment or failure if things don't go as planned.
Collaboration with Others: The presence of other people getting ready with you hints at social connections and shared experiences, emphasizing the notion of community and acceptance. Even while feeling like an outsider, the acceptance from others highlights your desire to belong and feel valued, as well as how much you cherish supportive relationships.
Linda Evangelista: This figure represents an ideal of beauty, confidence, and charisma. Engaging with a supermodel who is both kind and considerate suggests that you yearn for validation from those you admire, particularly in fields related to beauty and self-expression. Perhaps she embodies the qualities you aspire to—grace, charm, and the ability to draw others in with kindness—indicating that you, too, possess these traits.
Self-Doubt and Acceptance: Your conflicting feelings of belonging and unworthiness reveal a common human struggle with self-esteem. The dream articulates your frustrations with societal expectations surrounding beauty, echoing your sentiment about the internet's negative impact on your perception of makeup and self-worth. This duality represents an internal conflict between your love for makeup and external opinions that may undermine your passion.
Personal Connection to Makeup: Ultimately, this dream reveals your profound affinity for makeup—not just as a tool for beautification, but as a form of self-expression and empowerment. It speaks to an ideal relationship with makeup: one characterized by joy and acceptance rather than judgment and insecurity. There’s an underlying call to reconcile your love for makeup with your self-image, encouraging you to embrace your uniqueness and the color you bring to the world.
In summary, this dream takes you through a vibrant exploration of beauty, acceptance, and self-identity. It invites you to celebrate your passion and reminds you that beauty is not just about external perceptions but also about how you feel within yourself. Embrace your uniqueness and the joy that makeup brings you, as it is a valid and beautiful personal journey.
